去年大学での英語のプレゼンで鰤のポエム紹介したの思い出した
英訳大変だったな

もし　わたしが雨だったなら
それが永遠に交わることのない
空と大地を繋ぎ留めるように
誰かの心を繋ぎ留めることができただろうか

If I was rain

ぼくたちは　ひかれあう
水滴のように　惑星のように
ぼくたちは　反発しあう
磁石のように　肌の色のように

We pull each other
Like water drops, like planets attracting each other

Like poles of magnet, like skin colors of each other


なんか、重いな？

英語ぜんぜん分かんないけど
なんかスゲーのは分かる

剣を握らなければ　おまえを守れない
剣を握ったままでは　おまえを抱き締められない

Without a sword, I can't protect you
With a sword, I can't embrace you

そう、我々に運命などない
無知と恐怖にのまれ
足を踏み外したものたちだけが
運命と呼ばれる濁流の中へと
堕ちてゆくのだ

Ya, there's no such Fate for us
Ones been overwhelmed by ignorance and fear
Fail to take a step and drop from a cliff
They are the ones fell to the vague stream called Fate

我々は涙を流すべきではない
それは心に対する肉体の敗北であり
我々が心というものを
持て余す存在であるということの
証明にほかならないからだ

We must never burst into tears
That is a defeat of our body to our soul
That's the proof of our heart is so uncontrollable

錆びつけば　二度と突き立てられず
掴み損なえば我が身を裂く
そう　誇りとは
刃に似ている

If rust, no more to thrust
If fail to grasp, harms yourself
So pride, is alike a single blade

ああ　おれたちは皆
眼をあけたまま
空を飛ぶ夢を見てるんだ

Ah, all of us
Even our eyes are open
Are watching a dream to fly

俺達は　手を伸ばす
雲を払い　空を貫き
月と火星は掴めても
真実には　まだ届かない

I reach my hand far
Even I eliminate the clouds, pierce the sky
Able to grasp the Moon and Mars
Still can't reach to the truth of everything

届かぬ牙に　火を灯す
あの星を見ずに済むように
この吭を裂いて　しまわぬように

Ignite fire, on my fucking fangs
Not to see that star
Not to, tear my own throat

我々が岩壁の花を美しく思うのは
我々が岩壁に足を止めてしまうからだ
悚れ無き　その花のように
空へと踏み出せずにいるからだ

Why a flower on a cliff is so beautiful?
That's because we stop our steps when we face a cliff
Like the fearless flower
We can never walk up to the sky

誇りを一つ捨てるたび
我等は獣に一歩近付く
心を一つ殺すたび
我等は獣から一歩遠退く

By abandoning honor
We become closer to a beast
By killing desire
We become further from a beast

Red like blood

これは訳してて楽しいな

Who swears love to beauty
Are the ones who don't know love

Are the ones who are arrogant to know love


この世のすべては
あなたを追い詰める為にある

Everything in the universe
Is there to corner you

我等の世界に意味など無く
そこに生きる我等にも　意味など無い
無意味な我等は　世界を想う
そこに意味は無いと知ることにすら
意味など無いというのに

There is no meaning to our world
And us living there is also meaningless
Being meaningless, we think about the world

人は皆すべからく悪であり
自らを正義であると錯覚する為には
己以外の何者かを 己以上の悪であると
錯覚するより 他にないのだ
確信した正義とは、悪である
正義が正義たり得る為には
常に自らの正義を疑い続けなければならない

Humans are all evil
To autosuggest themselves are the justice
One has to misunderstand someone else is a greater evil
Justice with confidence is evil
To justice to be a true justice
One must keep doubting justice

僕が　こんなにも若く

完全無欠である大人達には

英語の詩で難しいのは韻律だと思う
翻訳でもそれっぽい雰囲気出さないと詩にならん

軍勢ゆきゆきて喇叭を吹く
耳鳴り止まず星屑のごとく
軍靴の轟き雷鳴のごとく

The troops march, blowing their trumpets
Like stardust ringing in our ear

雨と埃でかろうじて生きてろ

我々科学者にとって、完璧とは絶望だヨ。

今まで存在した何物よりも素晴しくあれ、だが、けして完璧であるなかれ。
科学者とは常にその二律背反に苦しみ続け、更にそこに快楽を見出す生物でなければならない。

つまり、完璧などと言う頓狂な言葉を口にした瞬間に、既に君は私に敗北していたのだヨ。
君を科学者だとするのならの話だがネ。

あ～あ　人生が5回くらいあったらいいのになあ
そしたらあたし、5回とも違う街で生まれて、
5回とも違うものをお腹いっぱい食べて、5回とも違う仕事して、
それで5回とも同じ人を好きになる。

Man, I wish I could live like five times.
If so, I will be born at five different cities,
eat different things all I want for five times, do five different jobs,
and be in love with the same person for all the five.
